Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, the Speaker of the Polish Senate, during the European Parliamentary Week in Brussels on February 18, 2025, highlighted that „there is no security for Europe without a strong, integrated economy.” She emphasized that Europe must „act in solidarity” to avoid division, adding that „a great Europe can afford to show its strength, as it has many times in history.”
Kidawa-Błońska pointed out that the response to current geopolitical challenges should be „more European cooperation and fewer barriers,” noting the need for deeper integration within the single European market and the expansion of the eurozone.
Szymon Hołownia, Speaker of the Polish Sejm and a candidate in this year’s presidential election, additionally spoke during the European Parliamentary Week in Brussels on February 18, 2025, about the need for strong leadership in Europe. He emphasized that Europe must „take pride in its potential” and not allow „Make Russia Great Again” policies to dominate the continent.
The politician pointed out that Europe is in a difficult situation, becoming „less competitive against other major economies,” with only 4 out of the 50 largest companies operating in Europe having European capital. Hołownia stressed that this is „the last moment” for Europe to „once again take pride in its potential.”
Rafał Trzaskowski, the Mayor of Warsaw, also a candidate for the presidency of Poland, in an interview on February 18, 2025, on Polish Radio, noted that the current U.S. strategy regarding the war in Ukraine is „testing various solutions.” He emphasized that „we cannot back down” and that we must demand NATO guarantees for Ukraine, adding that „only a NATO membership guarantee for Ukraine, supported by the authority of the United States, will be credible.” He also stated that „there are absolutely no plans” to send Polish troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping mission.
