„Due to the urgent duties of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his absence in Washington, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski’s visit, scheduled for February 6-11, has been postponed,” the Polish foreign ministry said in a statement on Friday.

It added that „Polish-American strategic dialogue consultations planned during the visit will be held at a different date.”

In a message posted on the X social media platform, Sikorski wished Blinken success in his trip to the Middle East next week.

He wrote, addressing Blinken: „Good luck in your urgent mission in the Middle East next week. May your intervention alleviate the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza and help bring forth a two-state solution.”

’We need to strategize on Ukraine’

Sikorski added: „Hope to see you in Washington when things calm down. We need to strategize on Ukraine, too.”

In mid-December, Sikorski and Blinken spoke over the phone to discuss further support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s war of aggression, according to an announcement at the time.

During the talk, Blinken congratulated Sikorski on his appointment as Poland’s top diplomat and „expressed hope for a meeting in Washington soon,” according to the foreign ministry in Warsaw.

Sikorski, meanwhile, „addressed the need for Western unity in the face of Russia’s aggressive activities,” the Polish foreign ministry said.
