The project aims to raise awareness and reduce collisions with hamsters, whose population has been dwindling.

The signs have been placed along a high-risk stretch of road in the eastern Lublin region where hamster casualties are frequent.

Lublin Landscape Parks spokeswoman Małgorzata Bielecka expressed surprise at the strong public reaction, saying: „Although similar signs were introduced for other species, such as hedgehogs and squirrels, none have sparked as much interest and emotion as those for the hamsters.”
