The steep rise in butter prices is a significant problem for many Poles, especially during the pre-holiday season when butter is used in households for various baking purposes.

The Government Strategic Reserves Agency (RARS) has decided to take special action regarding butter prices. Selling part of the reserves aims to make it harder for speculators to manipulate butter prices in Poland.

„This is an incidental win-win intervention. The Government Strategic Reserves Agency won’t lose on this, as butter is very expensive,” said the Prime Minister.

He pointed out that although butter in Poland is among the cheapest in Europe, it remains too expensive for people with the lowest incomes.

The Prime Minister emphasized that, while there is no guarantee that prices will drop, he hopes for positive effects from this intervention.

Earlier, the Prime Minister’s Office announced that the Government Strategic Reserves Agency will sell 1,000 tons of frozen butter, which is expected to help stabilize the market.
