Twenty percent of Poles over the age of fifteen experience vision problems, a figure that rises sharply with age, the Polish Radio news agency IAR reported on Saturday.

Citing a new study titled „How Poles See: Policy Brief,” the agency wrote that by their fifties, as many as one in four respondents reports difficulty with eyesight.
„Eye diseases are strongly linked to age,” co-author Filip Raciborski of the Medical University of Warsaw was quoted as saying.
„As the population ages and lifestyle-related diseases become more common, eyesight will continue to deteriorate”, he added.
Raciborski urged everyone to take preventive measures and undergo regular eye check-ups as it is crucial to monitor your vision and not ignore the first signs of deterioration.
He also warned that certain eye diseases can progress rapidly, potentially leading to significant vision loss within just a few months.
Poles often disregard early symptoms, failing to consult specialists or get check-ups in time, IAR noted.
In fact, many eye conditions are only detected when individuals seek reading glasses, typically around the age of 40 to 45.
