The 34-year-old goalkeeper, who announced his retirement from professional football in August, has joined Robert Lewandowski at one of the most famous sports clubs in the world.

Szczęsny arrived in Catalonia, where he successfully passed his medical tests, and later watched Barcelona’s match against Young Boys Bern in the Champions League, where Lewandowski scored two goals.

After arriving at the club, he met with president Joan Laporta and left the headquarters an hour later, waving to the gathered fans.

In mid-August, Szczęsny ended his contract with Juventus Turin, but the situation changed when Barcelona’s goalkeeper, Marc-André ter Stegen, sustained a knee injury.

The club quickly reached out to Szczęsny, who had been spending time in Marbella, to finalize the transfer.

He will be the sixth Polish athlete in the history of Barcelona, joining players such as Ewa Pajor, Bogdan Wenta, Kamil Syprzak, and Maciej Lampe.

Through social media, Wojciech Szczęsny expressed that he is very proud to join FC Barcelona.
