Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed gratitude for Rutte’s support of the Eastern Shield initiative and their shared commitment to peace in Ukraine. He also emphasized that ensuring Poland’s security remains NATO’s top priority.

Tusk reiterated that NATO’s security guarantees for Poland were confirmed during the meeting, with Rutte underscoring Russia as the primary threat to the entire alliance. Referring to the famous motto of the Musketeers, „One for all, all for one,” he highlighted Poland’s strong and united position within NATO.

NATO’s commitment to Poland’s security

During the press conference, Rutte praised Poland for its defense spending, calling it a „valued ally” strengthening NATO’s eastern flank. He also emphasized that any aggression against Poland or other NATO members would have severe consequences, particularly for Russia and Vladimir Putin.

The head of the Polish government also stressed that peace in Ukraine must guarantee its full sovereignty, asserting that only a just peace would ensure security for all.

„We are witnessing negotiations over which we have limited control. As NATO and as Poland, we must be ready for scenarios not entirely of our own making,” the politician highlighted.

Solidarity within the Alliance

PM Tusk reaffirmed NATO’s commitment to defending Poland in any critical situation, positioning the country as deserving of full support within the alliance.

„Our cooperation within the Alliance reaffirms NATO’s unity and full solidarity. U.S. officials have made it clear many times: they are always ready to defend Poland and all Allies if a threat arises,” said the Prime Minister of Poland.

„Poland is a NATO member that truly invests in both its own defense and the Alliance. We expect our American allies and European partners to treat Poland as a vital link in the defense of Europe and NATO,” he noted.
