At the BFI London Film Festival’s special presentation for A Real Pain, Jennifer Grey shared her experiences from shooting in Poland with On Demand Entertainment.

She reflected on the movie’s themes, asserting that the tragedy of the Holocaust carries a universal message that remains relevant today, as seen in contemporary conflicts ranging from the war in Ukraine to issues in the Middle East.

Grey emphasized the significance of learning from history in today’s world. She noted that visiting places like the German Nazi concentration camps is a profoundly shocking and devastating experience that goes beyond words.

It serves as a stark reminder of humanity’s capacity for cruelty towards others. Today, we find ourselves in a situation where we must once again pray for peace.

A journey through family history: US cousins honor their heritage in Poland

As we previously noted on Radio Poland, the dramedy A Real Pain filmed entirely in Poland follows two contrasting cousins, David (Jesse Eisenberg) and Benji (Kieran Culkin), on their journey through cities like Warsaw, Lublin, Krasnystaw, Łódź, and Majdanek.

They aim to honor their late grandmother and the victims of the Holocaust. Along the way, they uncover hidden aspects of their family history while also trying to repair their strained relationship.

Jennifer Grey shines in supporting role in 'A Real Pain’

Film Land Empire praises Jennifer Grey’s performance in A Real Pain, highlighting her ability to bring depth to a minor character.

The reviewer states that this role, along with Sandrine Holt’s in The Shrouds, stands out as their favorite supporting actress portrayal this year, even though Grey may not receive recognition in award discussions.
