Government’s housing plan failing abysmally

Speaking in the Dáil this week Pearse Doherty said the government’s housing plan is failing abysmally.

He said €1billion has gone unspent on housing, 2,500 less social homes delivered than promised, and new research shows their current targets – which they aren’t even meeting – are far too low to address the housing emergency.

Government must provide certainty for workers and families

Mary Lou McDonald has said the government must provide a plan and certainty for workers and families struggling with the cost of living crisis.

Speaking in the Dáil this week Mary Lou said this must include mortgage interest relief for homeowners, cutting rents and banning rent increases and no cliff edge for reduced VAT for gas and electricity, reduced excise duty on petrol, diesel and home heating oil and the moratorium on energy disconnections and evictions.

Sinn Féin supporting healthcare workers

Sinn Féin reps across the North supported health workers on the picket lines this week for fair pay and better working conditions.

A5 Road upgrade must be delivered

Speaking this week Michelle O’Neill said she will not give up on getting work under way to ensure that the A5 dual carriageway is built from Aughnacloy to Derry.
