The annual ranking, which assesses gender equality in the workforce across OECD countries, saw Sweden surpass Iceland as the best place for working women.

While Nordic countries continue to lead, Poland’s drop suggests challenges in wage equality, leadership representation, and labor force participation.

Meanwhile, the U.S. and Britain improved due to a rise in women in corporate leadership.

Poland’s decline contrasts with Portugal’s steady rise, driven by strong workplace policies supporting gender parity.

According to „The Economist„, Sweden has overtaken Iceland as the top country for working women in the 2025 Glass-Ceiling Index.

The annual ranking, which evaluates gender equality in the workplace across OECD nations, highlights Sweden’s strong support for women in leadership, education, and work-life balance.

Poland ranked 13th, marking its position in eight years.
