Elon Musk, the wealthiest person in the world and one of Donald Trump’s closest advisors, on Sunday once again called for „making peace” in Ukraine – understood by both him and the US President as Ukraine’s de facto capitulation to Putin’s regime.

The controversial trillionaire and White House’s eminence grise added on X (which he owns) that „my Starlink system is the backbone of the Ukrainian army. Their entire front line would collapse if I turned it off”. Moments earlier, in another Sunday’s tweet Musk also called for the US to leave NATO, writing that it „doesn’t make sense for America to pay for the defense of Europe”.

In response, the head of Polish diplomacy emphasized that „Starlinks for Ukraine are paid for by the Polish Digitization Ministry at the cost of about $50 million per year”. Radosław Sikorski added that Poland will have to look for a new supplier of communications for the Ukrainian army if Elon Musk’s company „turns out to be an unreliable provider”.
